Printing on Canvas

Hey, Everyone!  Sorry, it's been a while, hasn't it?

A few weeks ago, I took a picture of my sweet Pug, Emma, sitting in the window, sniffing the fresh air.  I always wonder what she thinks about when she's up there.  This was a photo-worthy site.  I used Instagram and applied a filter (sorry, I don't remember which one, a vintage style, I think).  Anyway, I got a few nice compliments on it from family and friends when I posted it on Facebook. 

See how nice it turned out?  Well, it got me thinking.  That would look really nice printed on canvas.  I have some of the Silhouette America Printable Canvas in my stash and I printed it out on my Epson Workforce.  The end result turned out gorgeous!

Cute Mason Jar Homemade Air Freshener

I came across a cute idea for homemade air freshener this morning via The Snug (you can find the original post here).  While it's super cute as is, I thought I'd dress my jars up a bit with some chalk paint and distress it a little to make it shabby chic looking.  I also put a coat of matte varnish on top to protect the paint.  For the top of the jar, I used my Cameo to cut out a circle of some cute patterned paper that matched the paint color to fit the inside of the jar lid and cut out some cute hearts for ventilation.  My jars are little jelly jars I had left over from when I made tomato jams, so I only used 1/4 cup of baking soda, but still put in about 12 drops of lemon essential oil (I do love me some lemon!)

Anyway, they turned out pretty cute.  You should make some too!

Lavender Baby Shower

Hello!

This past weekend I had the honor of hosting a baby shower for my step-daughter, Savannah.  She is having a girl and is naming her Athena.  Such a pretty name!  She is decorating the baby's room in Lavender and Gray, so I thought that would be a good starting point for the color theme for the shower.  I added some Lemon Yellow and pretty Teal colors to set it all off nicely.  After scouring Pinterest for ideas, I found my inspiration for the invitation and the decorations formed around it.  I had so much fun making all of these decorations! The shower itself turned out wonderful with family and friends gathering to congratulate Savannah.

I found this adorable owl (called "Princess Owl" Design ID #64873) in my Silhouette Library and recolored the pieces to match my theme colors.  This was all done as a print and cut.  The fonts I used were Asmara and Beautiful Day.

We have a lovely large and open window area in the front room which made for the perfect area to spotlight the clouds and raindrops and the decorated table.  What would we do without Pinterest!

 I used the Fairy Tale Castle file from the "Tiny Miracle" kit from SVGCuts.com to make the diaper cake, and  used the crib from the "Baby Crib Pop up Card" Design ID #65324 in the Silhouette Library and modified it with a crown to keep with the "Princess" theme.  

The pinwheels and candy boxes were made with the We R Memory Keepers punch boards.  Super easy to make.  I found the white 8 x 10 frames on Amazon and made some pretty printables to put inside.  ("Baby Subway Vinyl" Design ID #37055).  They will make cute decorations for Athena's bedroom too!

I made some Lavender and Berry Lemonades for the party, so I thought some layered lemons would look cute as drink coasters.  (Lettering Delights file "Fruit Cocktail Lemon)

The cute onsie box is from the Silhouette Library as well ("Baby Onsie Gift Box" Design ID #79728).  I had a bunch of mini clothes pins on hand and they made adorable accents for this as well as the onsie banner on the main table.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary: #saturdaysnailmail

Hello!

Today's challenge marks the beginning of PTI's new hashtag campaign is called #saturdaysnailmail.

Starting today, every Saturday they will share our photos of our cards that we are mailing to our family and friends, that we post on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and use the hashtag #saturdaysnailmail.   Today we are challenged to take part by making a thank you card for their awesome warehouse staff and mailing it to them as our way of saying thanks for the great job they do in getting our packages together and to us in record time.

I used the Friendship Jar stamps and dies and some acetate to make the jar and cute topper.  I used my Copics to color it and stamped some Thank You's on some die cuts made from the Ribbon Tails set and tucked them inside.  A stamped perimeter of Thank You's set it off nicely.

They really do a great job getting our goodies to us!

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary: Color Pop Fortune Teller Challenge

Hey, Everyone!  Welcome back!

The past couple of days at PTI haven't included any challenges, so I took a bit of a break from crafting.  But, we are back in the saddle today!

For today's challenge, we got to use a special "cootie catcher" or "fortune teller" to tell us what colors we can use for our card.  Do you remember using those when you were a kid?  I think we used them to see which boy in our class we were going to marry.  I think we called them something else, but for the life of me, I can't think what it was. 

Anyway, I picked my number and my colors were revealed:  Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist and Spring Rain.  I added in some Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream for my neutral colors and used the Twig Wreath stamp set to make my card.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary - Day 5: Sampler Square Challenge

Hello!

Today's challenge is to create a new 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" square card that features nine 1-1/2" squares, each altered in a different way.  I haven't tried all the techniques the PTI design team has done, so I decided to just make each square from a different stamp set and use 2 colors per square.

I mounted the squares on Lemon Zest cardstock and did a faux stitching line around to give the card a patchwork quilt kind of look.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary - Day 3: Create along with Us Challenge

Welcome Back!

Todays challenge allows us to select something that the design team has created during the release that inspired us, and create your own version.  Our project could use a color scheme, a technique, revisit an older set, etc.

I chose to follow along with the "Tiny Town" release.  We aren't able to buy it yet and I love the Petite Places series, so I figured I'd finally use the "Sweet Shoppe" set to make something cute for Valentine's Day.  So here it is!

I used Pure Poppy and Lovely Lady for the inks colors, the pathway and tree from the "Walk in the Park" set, and the adorable table and chairs and bike from the "Main Street" set.  Talk about cute!  I cut out the base with my Silhouette and added some loose little hearts which can be shaken around the dome.  I didn't have anything to fill the jar with, then I remembered I had some chocolates left over from Christmas (that normally doesn't happen!)  Worked out perfect!

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary - Day 3: Grab & Craft Challenge

Todays challenge is called "Grab & Craft"; take 5 minutes to grab what ever you want to use and go for it!

So, I grabbed the "One Big Happy" and "Cupcake Collection" stamp sets, Summer Sunrise cardstock and ink, Autumn Rose & Simply Chartreuse ink, and some pink rhinestones from my Silhouette collection. 

I used the heart cupcake topper as my border and blinged it up with the rhinestones. (Note:  If you have fresh batteries in your setter, 5 seconds is all it takes to melt the glue.  Any more than that, the glue will slide out from underneath the rhinestone.)  I layered the flowers with foam tape for a cute 3d effect.   My "Happy Everything" note card turned out cute and will be perfect to have on hand to send to my Mum.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary - Day 2: Dress Up Inspiration

The next challenge to celebrate PTI's Anniversary is in honor of Betsy's new item Dress Up Dolls.  We were asked to go through our closet or explore a favorite clothing store online and select a piece of clothing or outfit to use as inspiration for a project.

I don't really dress up very much; my clothes are pretty much just t-shirts and sweatshirts.  I do have a few dressy tops and one in particular caught my eye.  It is a cute lace top I purchased at Maurice's quite a few years ago.  It's a little snug, but I refuse to give it up for that one day when I might fit in it again (I'm sure there is at lease one person out there that can relate!)

For my card I used the "Sending You" and "Fillable Frames #1" stamp sets.  The ink colors were Autumn Rose, Plum Pudding, Enchanted Evening, Lavender Moon and Fresh Snow.   I layered the different sizes of flowers, overlapping them as well, to make a nice collage and placed a framed "Hello" on top.

Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Color Recipe Challenge

Hello!

It is Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary and they are celebrating February 5th to 15th with contests and challenges every day.  If you are a stamper and aren't familiar with Papertrey Ink, then I suggest you take a lookie-loo at their website and blog.  They have a gorgeous selection of stamps with matching dies and a spectacular range of ink colors with matching papers.  Not to mention all the other goodies they have to make card making fun!

While I am a bit of an addict when it comes to their products, I have never participated in a challenge of theirs before.  So, I figured what the heck, might as well!

This is the Color Recipe I chose -- nice and bright!

And this is the notecard I made using the Harvest Berries stamp set.

I added a little sparkle on the leaves with my Spica pen and used some Diamond Glaze to give some dimension to the berries.

Pretty Paintings Cards

Hello!

Well, it is a yucky, cold and rainy day today, so that makes it a perfect time to hole up in the craft room and make some cards.  I was shopping on HSN.com a while back and came across some Anna Griffin craft products that intrigued me.  I had a coupon code for 20% off and used it on her Pretty Paintings Card Making Kit.  It is gorgeous!  I has everything you need to make about 40 cards; ribbons, a bunch of different greetings and sentiments, layered flower stickers, gold elements, cards, small cards for layering, and envelopes.  I ended up making about 15 cards this morning!

A gorgeous assortment of elements!

Even came with a sentiment sheet for the inside of the card!

It also included an inspiration sheet for card ideas.  I made a couple from the sheet then put it away and just went and started mixing and matching to make my own card designs.

They all have a beautiful dimension to them.  The size of the card is 5x7 and I think they would look lovely shown off in a frame as well!
