Fall Decorations

Well, my new Fall decorations are a bit late and I didn't put out my usual full-on pumpkin display this year.  In my last post, I shared my new Fall tradition of putting up the "Christmas" tree, but with Fall decorations ~ the Fall Celebration Tree.  Next year, my plan is to put the tree up at the beginning of October along with all my Fall decorations, and I will probably add some Halloween decorations on it as well.  What the heck ~ why not?  🎃

You all know I love my crafts, especially my chalk art!  I had to make at least a few new chalk art items to put on display.  The Fall Blessings is Chalk Couture's November's Club Couture transfer and other one, Autumn Skies & Pumpkin Pies, is an adorable 5"x7" transfer that fits perfectly on the CC Board & Pillar surface.  Sooooo cute!!  Did you know that Chalk Couture™ dabbles in ink as well? I tried my hand at some pillow covers the other weekend. It's the exact same technique ~ lay the reusable silk screen stencil on the fabric and smooth out the bubbles. Apply your ink with a squeegee. Remove stencil, wash and dry it for another day. Let the ink air dry (overnight or so), then heat set. I threw mine in the dryer on high for about 5 minutes after the ink was dry ~ I won't be washing them, but I might just spray them with some Scotch Guard to protect them from spills. I think I'll put some Christmas designs on the back of them so that they are reversible and I can just pack them away after the holidays.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Fall, Y'all!!

Fall Celebration Tree

With all that is going on in the world today, I decided it was time for a new tradition. I introduce to you the Fall Celebration Tree! It took a while for us to get our house back together with the renovations and what not, so I figured, what the heck ~ let's put up the tree!

Fall Wire Wreaths

Well, it's the middle of September already. Holy moly. I have no idea where the rest of the months went, but here we are and we are on the downhill slide to a very strange year!  We finally got the new front door installed, and the drywall and texturizing was done 2 weeks ago.  I managed to get the guestroom, craftroom and our bedroom new drywall areas around the new windows primed and painted shortly after on the weekend, and then all of Oregon caught fire.  That was scary!  We had a crazy and unprecedented wind storm blow over from the east, along with some lightning, existing fires, and blown down powerlines, and the next thing everyone knew, there was forest fire chaos everywhere.  The sky on the morning of September 8th is something I will never forget.  It almost looked like it was photoshopped for a movie. Red, angry skies in the background and glowing trees in the front, as the sunshine tried to shine amidst the nasty smoke.  It was very "halloweeny" looking out there!  The smoke is still hanging around today.  Rains are in the forecast and fingers are crossed that they are enough to help get the fires under control.  So, between that and the darn COVID-19 that is still lingering around, I figured I might as well start on some Fall and Halloween decorations, because it the holidays will be here before you know it!

"Would Poop Here" Bathroom Sign

If you are having a hard time trying to figure out what to get as a housewarming gift for your friend's new place, look no further!  Not only will they get a good laugh out of it, they will proudly display it in their powder room!  You could easily make this out of vinyl, if you don't mind the cutting and weeding, but I made mine out of an inexpensive chalk board I found at a craft store, white chalk paste, and a re-useable silkscreen stencil.

If you would like to make it yourself out of chalk paste and the stencil like I did, just click the links to see where I purchased the products!

Take care!

Craft Room Make Over

Hey, Everyone!  Yes, it's been a while.  Darn COVID-19!  We decided to take the opportunity of this down time to have some exterior renovations done on the house.  New windows, doors, siding and paint, and garage door.  It's been a bit of a slow process because of production being halted at the manufacturing facilities, so the front door and garage door have been on back order for almost 3 months.  Sheesh!  I'm ready for it all to be done!  So I decided I might as well get my butt in gear and get a jump start on painting the craft room and the master bedroom.  I am still deciding on a paint color for our room, but I did find a nice color for the craft room, and boy, what a difference!  I had painted it when we first moved in here, 12 years ago, a beautiful, tropical looking, bright yellow.  So while waiting for the doors to be installed and the drywall guy to come and do his thing, I painted the majority of the craft room and will do the window area wall later. The color is Eastern Wind by Miller Paints, a pretty soft aqua blue.
